Close to 700 questionnaires returned on councils

Date: 13 Jul 2016

A total of 698 questionnaires were filled in and submitted to the Local Government Commission during its public engagement to hear the views of West Coast people on their councils.

Local Government Commissioner Janie Annear, said she was pleased with the response rate to the questionnaire which closed on Friday 8 July.  The total may well rise over the next day or two as mail gets delivered to the Commission.

Ms Annear thanked everyone who filled in the questionnaires and the more than 200 people who attended drop-in sessions, public meetings and stakeholder appointments during the nearly six week long engagement between May 30 and July 8.

“We wanted to hear people’s views and ideas to help us consider whether or not there is community support for change.  Now we are in the process of going through that feedback to see what it says.  We expect to be in a position to make public a summary of the feedback towards the end of August,” said Janie Annear.
